    The Small/Large Combo of the Mini Hearth, Modular formicarium features one XL Mini Hearth, Modular and one Standard Size Mini Hearth, Modular.  This kit also includes the following: 

    • 4 Stoppers

    • 3 Nestmates w/ Stoppers

    • Syringe With Adapter

    Mini Hearth, Modular Duo

    The Mini Hearth, Modular is a new product from Tar Heel Ants.  The Mini Hearth is a founding formicarium intended for queens and small colonies.  The Mini Hearth is our smallest formicarium that includes our large water tower and nestmate combination.  This makes this an ideal habitat for founding queens as it requires less maintenance and allows the queens to be left relatively undisturbed during their most delicate stage of colony development.

    This version of our Mini Hearth formicarium has many of the original features in addition to some new ones.  

    Features:

    • Dimensions: Standard Nest Size - 3 5/8" x 1 13/16 x 1 3/4"

           XL Nest Size - 4 5/8" x 1 13/16 x 1 3/4"

    Note: This version of the Standard Size nest is

    slightly larger then the original Mini Hearth

    • 1 nestmate (XL version - 2 nestmates) for drinking water or ventilation

    • Magnetically connectable ends (to all other Mini Hearth, Modular Units)

    • Sand-coated interior

    • Type III Material

    • Stalactites

    • Large Water Towers (Screen covered apparatus inside habitat for humidity)

    • Painted Exterior

    • Magnetically removable glass panels

    • Friction fitting inset lids

    • 3/8" connection ports located on each end.  These can be used either to magnetically join additional Mini Hearth, Modular units or other habitats using 3/8" vinyl tubing

    • Lid vents are covered in micro-fine stainless steel mesh screening 

    Optional:

    Museum Glass Panels

    Décor - minor décor only (either rocks only or one rock/one plant etc.)

    Substrate - white sand, brown sand, vermiculite

    Interior Colors - must be the same on both Mini Hearth, Modular units

    Exterior Colors - Either Painted (if white sand interior option is selected) or natural colors (entire formicarium color matches)
